Fujica GS645 owners know, that they should not try to fold the
camera before the film is advanced (and the shutter is cocked) and the
focus is set to infinity. It might damage the system. But, nevertheless, the system might be damaged even if one does so. When I took my camera out
of the cupboard after some months of rest, the shutter/aperture system was dead. It
had worked some months before.
The
shutter could be cocked, if the shutter button was pushed, there was a
shutter sound, but it did not open, regardless what speed was set. The
T button did not work either, nor the self-timer. Looking closely,
there was a little silver lever, which seemed to have no function. And
there as a bigger plastic lever which moved without doing something.
So, with the help of a tiny, but long screwdriver, I pushed the silver
lever behind the plastic lever. This was possible, when the shutter was
released. It was a bit of forcing. (If you are not sure about it, don't
do it.) And, a miracle, it all worked again. Folding and re-opening did
not do any harm. It still works.
So here 2 photos. As it's all well hidden under the camera's bed, it's difficult to photograph. This is the best I could do:
That's what I'm talking about.
And that's the detail.
The
arrow points to the little silver lever. To its left is the plastic
lever. It's dark gray or black, I had to use a lot of light to make it
visible. It's a pity that I don't have a photo of the lever being lose.
But I won't push it back just for that. But maybe this helps.
For
the aperture I found a local french repairman who was able to repair
the camera. He said that it was a simple job, the leafs of the aperture
got disengaged without something broken inside. He opened the lens
housing from the front and got it engaged again. And then I sold the
camera to the repairman :-)
I ordered a repair manual on ebay,
but it wasn't the right one. it was from a Fuji 645, but not the GS645.
They got the title wrong and I was refunded. So no repair manual yet...
